Thailand is the classic first international trip from India — short flights from most metros, food that feels familiar, and a tourism industry built for visitors. This guide covers how to structure a trip and what to expect.

When to go

November to February is the cool, dry season and the best window for both cities and islands. March to May is hot; June to October is the green season with short, heavy showers — cheaper and still very doable if you keep beach days flexible.

How many days, and where

• Bangkok (2–3 nights): Grand Palace and Wat Arun, a Chao Phraya dinner cruise, the weekend markets, and day trips to Pattaya (Nong Nooch gardens, Sanctuary of Truth).
• Phuket (3 nights): a base for the Phi Phi and Krabi island-hopping day tours, Old Town, and the big evening shows.
• Krabi (2 nights): quieter beaches, Railay, and the James Bond Island tour by longtail or speedboat.

A first-timer is comfortable with 4N/5D (Bangkok + Pattaya) and a couple wanting beaches should look at 5N/6D (Bangkok + Phuket) or the 7N/8D three-city route.

Money and budget

The currency is the Thai Baht. • Agree tuk-tuk fares before getting in; app taxis are cheap in Bangkok.
• Book island tours through your operator, not beach touts, so transfers and life-jackets are covered.
